What Is Augmentation-Mastopexy?
Augmentation-mastopexy is the medical term for a breast lift with implants procedure. Also referred to as a “breast lift and augmentation,” this treatment is designed to eliminate sagging skin and lift the breasts to a higher position on the chest while increasing and enhancing breast size and shape. A combination breast lift and breast augmentation procedure can be ideal for women who would like to address breast ptosis (sagging) in addition to a loss of volume in the breasts.
Breast lift and augmentation surgery offers a variety of benefits, including:
- Elimination of excess, inelastic skin that is contributing to a sagging/drooping appearance
- Tightening of breast skin and elevation of the breasts for a firmer, more youthful appearance and projection
- Enlargement of the breasts for a fuller appearance
- Enhanced shape and symmetry
- Resizing/repositioning of the nipples
Augmentation-mastopexy can be a very effective treatment on its own, or as an addition to a full Mommy Makeover procedure. It is not uncommon for women to experience a loss of breast volume and a sagging appearance in the breasts following pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. Breast lift with implants procedures can address these concerns with exemplary results and help women restore their pre-pregnancy figures.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift with Implants?
Breast lift with implants procedures take two treatments that offer distinct benefits and combine them to achieve a number of specific goals. Ideal candidates for breast lift with implants surgery are typically individuals suffering from noticeable degrees of breast sag who would like to address this concern and increase the size of their breasts, as well. Patients should also be in generally good overall health at the time of surgery.
Dr. Mills will conduct a thorough exam during your initial consultation and talk with you about your ultimate goals. If breast lift with augmentation is the right option for your needs, he will develop a personalized treatment plan designed to meet your expectations with natural-looking results.
How Is the Augmentation-Mastopexy Procedure Performed?
Augmentation-mastopexy procedures can typically be performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Dr. Mills prefers to perform breast lift with implants surgery in two stages rather than in a single operation. He believes this helps maximize safety precautions for patients. With that in mind, it is still possible to perform the treatment in one operation. Dr. Mills will talk with you about your preferences during the initial consultation and make a recommendation as to which option is best for your needs.
The placement of the breast implants is usually the first step of the procedure, followed by the breast lift portion. There are a number of techniques that can be utilized to accomplish the breast lift; Dr. Mills will explain these to you during the consultation and help you determine the best option. Once the implants have been placed, Dr. Mills will remove the excess breast tissue and reposition the breasts on the chest wall, giving them a more youthful projection and appearance.
In some cases, Dr. Mills may recommend an advanced technique called the GalaFLEX® Scaffold to be included in the breast lift with implants procedure. GalaFLEX® is an innovative addition that can help patients maintain the results of a breast lift and prevent the breasts from drooping for longer periods. Upon your initial evaluation, Dr. Mills can talk more with you about this technique and whether it might be to your advantage.
What Is Recovery from a Breast Lift with Implants Like?
In most cases, patients are able to resume working and other daily activities approximately one week to 10 days following a breast lift with implants procedure; however, the exact nature of the recovery experience will depend on each individual’s unique needs. Some degree of bruising and swelling in the treatment areas can be expected after surgery. These are normal and common side effects that should gradually fade over time. To aid the healing process, Dr. Mills may recommend that patients wear a surgical bra for a few weeks after the procedure. Discomfort during the healing process can be controlled with medication. It is strongly advised that patients refrain from lifting heavy objects or engaging in activities that may place excessive strain on the breasts for at least six weeks.
How Much Does a Breast Lift with Implants Cost?
The total cost of breast lift with augmentation procedures is based on each patient’s customized treatment plan, and is therefore not the same for everyone. At the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute, the cost of breast lift with implants surgery typically falls in the range of $11,000 to $13,000. If GalaFLEX® material is used, the cost can range from $13,000 – $16,000. It’s important to note that the price of this procedure is ultimately dependent on factors that are highly individual to the personalized treatment program, such as the complexity of the treatment, the type of breast implants that will be placed, whether GalaFLEX® is part of the procedure, the techniques utilized, the surgeon’s fee, costs associated with the facility, anesthesiology, and post-operative garments, and other components.
Dr. Mills firmly believes that patients should be provided with a clear idea of the cost expectations for plastic surgery procedures right at the outset. Once your treatment plan is created during the initial consultation, a friendly member of our team will calculate an estimate of the total price, including all associated costs, and go over it with you. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the convenient payment methods we accept, and we can also discuss plastic surgery financing options. Our practice works with a reputable healthcare lending company that offers affordable monthly payment plans for eligible applicants.
