Is It Time for a Facelift or Neck Lift?

One of the most popular questions we’re asked at our Orange County plastic surgery practice is: what is the ideal age for a facelift or neck lift? Technically, however, there is no “ideal” age for someone to have a facelift or neck lift. Rather, it will depend on how you have aged and cared for your skin over time.

Our board-certified plastic surgeon –Daniel C. Mills, MD, FACS – typically tells patients that the younger they are and the more skin elasticity they have, the longer their facelift or neck lift results will last. As such, he advises you to pursue facelift or neck lift surgery whenever you notice changes that you don’t like. Depending on your individual case, these concerns can include moderate to severe:

If you want to address signs of aging like those listed above, we advise you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mills. During this initial meeting, Dr. Mills will ask you questions about your cosmetic concerns, review your medical history, and perform an examination of your face and neck. If you are in good general health and Dr. Mills believes surgery is likely to meet your goals, he can work with you to develop a plan for your facelift or neck lift procedure. In many cases, his facelift and neck lift patients look and feel 8 to 10 years younger after the procedure.

If you and Dr. Mills decide that a facelift or neck lift is not the best choice at this time, Dr. Mills can recommend non-surgical treatments, such as laser resurfacing or cosmetic injections, that may better suit your needs. For instance, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a popular choice for non-surgical facial enhancement, as it is designed to reduce lines and wrinkles while creating a rejuvenated appearance.

If you are interested in treating signs of facial aging but unsure whether it’s the right time, we are eager to point you in the right direction! Contact Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute today to schedule your consultation with Dr. Mills.
