24-Hour Breast Augmentation

What began as a technique for helping women determine if they would be satisfied with the results of breast enhancement surgery has now turned into a popular fad for those seeking a temporary increase in breast size. Known by many names – such as the “24-hour breast augmentation” or the “lunchtime lift” – this trending procedure is intended to enlarge the breasts through the injection of a saline solution. Because results typically only last for about 24 hours (the saline solution is quickly absorbed into the body), many women are requesting the procedure as a way to enhance their appearance in time for parties, weddings, and other special occasions.

Although the lower cost and non-surgical aspect of breast enhancement with saline injections can be alluring for many patients, the procedure is not without risks and/or possible side-effects. In fact, infection and blood pooling under the skin are two potentially serious issues that can occur if the injections are not performed properly. Additionally, the injections may cause the breast skin to stretch a bit, resulting in a sagging appearance once the saline solution has been absorbed.

Ultimately, if you are interested in breast enhancement of any kind, my advice is to seek the counsel and expertise of an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. He or she will be able to help you determine the safest, most effective procedure for your specific needs and goals.
