Am I a Candidate For Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation?

In recent years, cosmetic injectables have seen an immense surge in popularity.* These non-surgical treatments are available in several varieties, not limited to neuromodulators and dermal fillers. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute, our Orange County plastic surgeon frequently recommends injectables for patients who want to address signs of aging (e.g. static or dynamic wrinkles); restore volume; reduce excess fat; or otherwise enhance their facial aesthetic.

One of the major advantages of these treatments is the fact that many patients can be deemed candidates. Provided you’re at least 18 years old, in good health, and have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure, you’re likely to be considered eligible for cosmetic injectables.

That said, with so many facial rejuvenation options available, how do you know you’re better suited for an injectable treatment than surgery? If you’re unsure whether to go with surgical or non-surgical facial rejuvenation (e.g. facelift surgery or BOTOX^® Cosmetic), consider these factors:

• You wish to reduce (or potentially prevent) crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead creases, or other concerns caused by repetitive facial movements
• You want to fill in hollow or sunken areas/address nasolabial folds or under-eye bags*
• You desire a more defined jawline or fuller lips

While all injectables are temporary, it is extremely important to place any modifications to your face in the hands of a qualified provider. Even if you’re more interested in a non-surgical option (such as injectables), we advise you to entrust your care to a plastic surgeon. He or she should have experience fixing many of the concerns listed above, not to mention a profound knowledge of facial anatomy. Moreover, in this case, the outcome of your care is likely to be more successful than if you entrusted a nurse or physician’s assistant (who has not had six years of training after medical school).
