Plastic Surgeon in Orange County Answers Two Facial Rejuvenation FAQs

Orange County plastic surgeon, facelift, browlift, blepharoplasty, facial rejuvenation surgery, Dr. Mills

Dr. Daniel Mills of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute answers two popular questions asked by patients considering facial rejuvenation surgery at his practice.

Laguna Beach, CA — According to Orange County plastic surgeon Daniel Mills, MD, facial rejuvenation surgeries comprise a large percentage of the total number of cosmetic procedures he performs at the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute each year. During the consultation process for facial rejuvenation surgery, he says the majority of his prospective patients often have several similar inquiries, two of which commonly include:

1. How Much Younger Will I Look After Facial Rejuvenation Surgery?

2. How Much Pain Should I Expect After Facial Rejuvenation Surgery?

Though he acknowledges the answer to the first question varies by individual, Dr. Mills says most of his patients feel they appear about eight to ten years younger after facial rejuvenation surgery, depending on the particular procedure and/or combination of procedures they receive. For example, he says facelift surgery performed alone will likely take more years off one’s face than a browlift, just as both procedures performed in combination with blepharoplasty will often yield more dramatic results than each procedure achieves on its own.

In regard to postoperative pain, the Orange County plastic surgeon says any discomfort after surgery will be dependent on several different factors, including the specific procedure(s) performed and the patient’s overall pain tolerance. “In general, however, I would not go so far as to describe the recovery process for facial rejuvenation as painful, but more so what you expect to experience when you’re out of sorts from having the flu.” At his practice, Dr. Mills also notes that he employs three unique methods for diminishing discomfort and facilitating the recovery process following facial rejuvenation surgery:

Ultimately, Dr. Mills stresses the importance of asking questions like the ones above when considering facial rejuvenation surgery. “Whether or not to receive cosmetic facial surgery is a major decision – one that should not be taken lightly. Asking your plastic surgeon a number of questions about your procedure is an excellent way to ensure you are fully prepared for what to expect in regard to treatment, recovery, and potential results.”
